FIGIEFA Submission to the Commission’s Call for Evidence on Policy Options relating to a sector-specific EU Regulation on “Ac- cess to vehicle data & resources”
Summary
Call for Evidence
The European Commission launched a Public consultation and Call for Evidence (CfE) exercise on 29th March 2022 as part of its on-going information-collection activities to assess the scope for a legislative proposal on Access to In-vehicle Data.
The CfE identified four different Policy Options (POs). FIGIEFA has submitted a detailed contribution, including supporting qualitative and quantitative input, explaining why Policy Option 3, where the need of the independant access to in-vehicle data, functions and resources is required, is the preferred and required option, to be able to offer competetive services. The Call for Evidence activity was open till 2nd of August.
Carmunication was an active participant in several workshops and part of the elaboration.
The European Commission is analysing the inputs received and will use it as part of an impact assessment on their sector specific legislative proposal on “access to in vehicle data and resources”.
