Confinity-X – a new cloudsystem for traceable value chains

Catena-X is designed to enable all participants in the automotive value chain to exchange data consistently via an EU-wide cloud data network (see also article Catena-X – for a high-performance automotive industry in Europe).
Cofinity-X GmbH has now been founded in Cologne. Prominent founding members of the joint venture include BASF, BMW, Henkel, Mercedes-Benz, SAP, Schaeffler, Siemens, T-Systems, Volkswagen and ZF.
The goal of Cofinity-X is to establish and operate an EU-wide open cloud ecosystem for data exchange and digital services. The first services and offerings are scheduled to go live at the end of April 2023.

Turning away from the Hyperscalern ?
All the major players have also been working on building their own industrial clouds, mostly in cooperation with the major hyperscalers such as AWS, Microsoft and Google.
Cofinity-X’s vision is to power core applications of the Catena-X data ecosystem that enables the easy and rapid deployment of products and services in the automotive industry. The Eclipse Dataspace Connector (EDC) is one of the key technologies for sovereign data exchange between companies.
