autonomous driving next steps

Summary

autonomous driving next steps

After Daimler was the first manufacturer to offer its drive-pilot as an approved level 3 system for autonomous driving for the S-class and EQS, Volvo is now taking the next step.
Volvo now wants to follow suit in California in 2022.
Volvo is working together with the companies Zenseact and Luminar on the sensor technology and software, including over-the-air updates. More than two dozen sensors, including an irislidar sensor from Luminar, will be used. In addition, there are five radars, eight cameras and 16 ultrasonic sensors. Volvo will use the technology as standard in the new all-electric BEV XC90. And here, too, the features are to be activated temporarily or permanently in future as part of a subscription model for a fee.
